Dennis Condor DM17
...... in preservation
Welcome ........

The owners of DM17 would like to welcome you to this site, which is dedicated to the only preserved Dennis Condor.

The purchase and preservation of a DM has been an achievement we had been hoping to fulfil since we visited Hong Kong in 1999. At this time, we expected the DM class to be withdrawn by 2001, as and when new air-conditioned buses were delivered.  However, we were not confident of success, due to the relatively young age of the DM class, and hence their expected high value on the second-hand bus market. However, the last DMs were not finally retired until August 2002, thus allowing more time for negotiations between New World First Bus and ourselves to reach a mutually agreeable conclusion.

We have much experience in bus preservation, having previously restored the unique Leyland National Suburban Express flat floored demonstrator, RRM148M, a regular winner of awards at rallies all over England. This bus has now passed to Michael Wootten, of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, where it is kept with the other vehicles of Woottens Coaches fleet. Pictures appear on the Photos page.

The purchase of DM17 has been the result of a lot of patience and hard work , and we are hoping that  it will give both the public and enthusiasts in Britain an insight into the kind of buses which operated in Hong Kong during the 1990s. Our sincere thanks to those who helped this project succeed are recorded elsewhere on this website.

We are always pleased to receive photographs of DM17 in Hong Kong, and indeed pictures of any of the DMs in chassis form or in various stages of construction.

Thank you for your interest.
