LA1 belonged to the first batch of new Leyland Olympians ordered by CMB ten years after introducing the two-axled Olympians in 1981. She was also the first 11 metre, three-axled Olympian of CMB fitted with Alexander R type bodywork.

Together with the other four vehicles of the same batch, LA1 highlighted the beginning of a diversified air-conditioned fleet of CMB to strengthen its service in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island.

LA6 was among the second batch of Leyland Olympians. She impressed the public with its eye-catching livery of red and yellow lines on different shades of blue, together with Chinese and English lettering of "Air Conditioned Bus".

In this livery, LA6 served on Cross Harbour routes 107, 111, 307 and 312 at the early stage. Later she was deployed to operate on routes 504 and 537 of the Southern District.

It was a pity that this striking livery was only an experimental one of the new air-conditioned buses of CMB, and was greatly missed by the bus fans when LA6 was later repainted in the simple but standardised version of blue lines on white.

VA64 was one of CMB's 14 Volvo Olympians and was the last new bus to join the CMB fleet.

Her silver livery, with blue relief was developed from the previous white and blue version. Whilst this final livery is distinctive, most Chinese people found the livery to be unattractive and believed that this very unlucky combination of colours was actually responsible for the demise of the CMB!
