Hong Kong Bus Operators ... KMB
New ATEU class of Enviro500s (2009-2011)

In  a press release dated 28th February 2009, KMB announced that it had fitted a new Euro V engine to Alexander Dennis Enviro500 ATEU1 (formerly ATE257), making it Asia’s first double-deck bus with a Euro V engine. By effectively reducing the emissions of nitrogen oxides, the Euro V engine meets the latest and toughest emission standards in the world, contributing to a cleaner environment. ATEU1 primarily operated on Route B1 between Tin Shui Wai Railway Station and the Lok Ma Chau Railway Station. KMB's official Press Release can be viewed here.

Despite ATEU1 having been fitted with a Euro V engine, subsequent deliveries to the class were fitted with Euro IV engines, the first nine arriving in July/August 2009. A noticeable difference between this new batch and previous Enviro500s is the glass offside emergency exit, as captured in the photograph below.

A second batch, commencing with fleet no. ATEU11, began entering service in June 2010 whilst May/July 2011 saw the arrival of ATEU26-32.
