It is rumoured that the release of KMB Metrobus M1 is in doubt, although no official confirmation has yet been received. In the meantime, the Best Choose CMB Guy Arab (02041) is expected to be released in Hong Kong early next week. New photos of the finished sample have just been uploaded. The Resin index section has been updated to take account of some imminent releases.

RESIN MODEL NEWS
Three & Twelve Supreme are to release a CMB Guy Arab Mk V AD4563 tow truck, limited to 300 pieces,    whilst Hong Kong Bus Model are also due to release a Guy Arab single deck bus, in the maroon and cream livery of CMB.

KMB's 12m MCW Metrobus model from Cars Workshop will carry fleet number "M1" instead of "3M1". This was the original fleet number allocated to CN870 before KMB introduced it's first 9.7m MCW Metrobuses in 1983.

The NWFB Customer Service Centre in Admiralty is selling gift sets of Farewell DM class "the Last Hot Dog".  The set includes a T-shirt, an application form for the "Bye Bye My Hot Dog" party tour on 17th August and a discount coupon for buying the DM28 model.  It is believed that only 300 of the sets are being made available. A new page has been created in anticipation of this model, where further photos of this gift set can be seen.

It is to released by Car's Workshop, and is believed to be the ABC casting.

I am reliably informed that KMB are soon to issue two new models. The first, expected in August, is of 3M1, a 12-metre 3-axle MCW Metrobus. This is on Route No. 112 to So Uk, and carries the half-cream half-red livery. Limited to 3,000 pieces, it is expected to sell for HK$288. The manufacturer of this model is not yet known.

The second, is an Albion single-deck bus, of which no further information is yet known.

UPDATE

Since posting the above news this morning, I have received information that NWFB are to release a model of their last non air-con 11-metre Dennis Condor, DM28.

To commemorate the withdrawal of DM28 from NWFB's regular bus fleet, NWFB are to organise a farewell trip for this specially decorated bus, on 17 August 2002 (Bye, Bye My Hotdog). DM28(ES6657) is the very last 11-metre non air-con Dennis Condor purchased by CMB in 1990, and was subsequently taken over by NWFB in September 1998. It has, for some time, loyally served routes 91, 94 and 95.

DM28's "farewell" livery features at least three tasty hot-dogs, which, in Hong Kong bus circles, is  jargon for non air-con buses. The withdrawal of DM28 also leads NWFB, as well as all the bus routes on HK Island, into a new era - having all routes being fully operated by air-conditioned buses, regardless of operator.

It is with regret that I advise of my decision not to carry out any further updates to the “Oriental Buses plus” website.

The reason for this decision is that I am unable to devote the necessary time to maintain and update the site as I would wish. This site, as you will no doubt appreciate, takes a good proportion of my spare time, and I do not want it to suffer as a result of time spent on the “real buses” site

The site will continue to “sit” on the web, and I hope that at some point in the future, I will be able to devote the required time to it.

The above die-cast toy was recently picked up at a swap-meet (in the UK) by a regular visitor to the site. The model is of Citybus 625 on route 962. Can anyone shed any further light??

For those interested in statistics, this site received a total of 11,485 "hits" last month, a new record. As an aside, the site now consists of approximately 550 pages, a far cry from it's early days back in November 1998!
