As reported yesterday, the Cars Workshop KMB Enviro500 (39401) was released in Hong Kong today. Some new photographs have been added to the appropriate page and more will follow tomorrow.

31st December 2004

The Cars Workshop KMB Enviro500 (39401) is due to be released in Hong Kong tomorrow (31st). Two of these models are being offered as prizes in our annual competition, further details of which can be found here.

A final reminder that tomorrow is the last day to vote for your Favourite New Casting of 2004 and Favourite Livery of 2004. Don't forget, this is your opportunity to win one of the forthcoming KMB Enviro500s from  Cars Workshop, which are kindly being provided as prizes by 80M Bus Model Shop. Please note that an acknowledgment e-mail will be sent within 36 hours of you casting your vote. If you not receive an acknowledgement within this timescale, please vote again.

It is reported on the ChannelNewsAsia website that SBS Transit has placed an order with Volvo for 150 new double-deck buses, the deal being worth $60m.

Creative Master Northcord have announced that there will be a further release of their Leyland Olympian/Alexander, this being in Megabus.com 'In and Out of London' livery (hkbus2005), and will feature fleet no. 13616.  It is due to be issued in March 2005.

New photos of some the Dennis Tridents recently transferred from new World First Bus to KCRC have been added to the Xtra pages of the site, as well as news of some former Citybus Olympians recently acquired by a private operator here in the UK.

Voting for your Favourite New Casting of 2004 and Favourite Livery of 2004 has got off to a brisk start, with over 150 votes having been cast already. Just a reminder to those of you voting for your Favourite New Casting of 2004 and Favourite Livery that an acknowledgment e-mail will be sent within 36 hours of you casting your vote. If you not receive an acknowledgement within this timescale, please vote again, as several acknowledgment e-mails sent out tonight have been returned, so you may have quoted an incorrect address!!
20th December 2004

As is customary on this site at this time of the year, over the next two weeks you have the opportunity to vote for your Favourite New Casting of 2004 along with your Favourite Livery of 2004. Whilst this is a bit of light-hearted fun for the festive season, I am pleased to announce that this year 80M Bus Model Shop have kindly agreed to provide one of the forthcoming Cars Workshop KMB Enviro500 models to the winner of each category. This is to celebrate the recent opening of their sixth shop, located in one of the most prestigious shopping arcades in Kowloon, Langham Place. The photos below show both the shop and the arcade itself. The full address is Shop 33, L11, Langham Place, 8 Argyle Street, Mongkok, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

To see the list of models in each category, the competition rules and more importantly, to cast your votes, follow this link

I am advised that the eagerley awaited book 'Evolution of Hong Kong Buses - the Island' is due for release shortly.

 19th December 2004

Pictured above is a new qb model which features all-over advertising for Po Sum On. The model is not on general sale, but details on how one can be obtained can be found by following the link. (This link removed - 11th February 2010) Further photos of the model will appear shortly.

I am reliably informed that the release date for the forthcoming publication - "Hong Kong Trams - Hong Kong Tramways 100 Years" from DTS Publishing will be delayed by at least a week which may prevent copies reaching Hong Kong before Christmas.

It's been reported that KMB's Volgren bodied Volvo B9TL demonstrator - AVD1 (LJ7006) - will be returned to Volvo's dealer by mid-December. Bus Fan World organised a dedicated farewell tour for this bus on Sunday 12th December 2004, a photo of which is included above.

I am looking to redesign my 'Homepage' and if there are any web designers out there who may be interested, please e-mail me

Gerry Brown

I was deeply shocked and saddened to read on the Diecast Buses Interactive Group today that Gerry Brown, the site founder and owner, unexpectedly passed away last night.

Gerry was the driving force behind this hugely successful group, which has gone from strength to strength since it's formation in April 2001.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to his wife Christine and daughters Laura and Sarah, and I do this on behalf of all the visitors to this site. Needless to say, our thoughts and prayers are with them, and the rest of his family, at this sad time.

7th December 2004

Just uploaded to the Xtra pages of the site are some photos of ex-New World First Bus 10.6m Tridents now with KCRC.
