The arrival of new buses for Citybus has dominated news in recent months, so as a contrast I thought I would post this photograph of Bournemouth Corporation Daimler Fleetline no. 180. This was the first of a batch of 10 convertible open-toppers, new in 1965, and which had been allocated names of English counties. Fleet nos 181 and 188 were subsequently exported to Hong Kong, along with 4 members of a similar but 'closed top' batch (190-193) having been acquired by the then newly formed Passenger Transport Services (Asia) Ltd, trading as 'City Buses'.

It's ironic that this batch of buses was the subject of my early bus-spotting days, living in nearby Poole and 45+ years later my interest still lies in yellow buses (amongst others), but now in Hong Kong!!

My thanks to Derek Hopkins for allowing me to use his photograph, which was taken in 1974.

Big Bus Hong Kong have applied a new revised livery to Anhui Ankai no. 11 as can be seen in the above photograph taken at Central Piers. My thanks to Anthony's Bus Home Page for allowing me to share this photograph - check out his excellent Facebook page.

In June, Kwoon Chung Motors purchased 8 second-hand double-deck buses and passenger service licence certificates from Citybus. The buses are all believed to be ex-Cityflyer Duple Metsec bodied Tridents and one such example, believed
to be 2153, has appeared in its new livery.

and finally,  Kowloon Motor Bus Wrights Gemini 2 AVBWU66 has been decorated in this special livery promoting a forthcoming book marking the company's 80th anniversary.

A new page has tonight been added to the Click here to visit the Xtra pages section of the site for the first of Citybus's standard liveried Enviro 500NGs, featured below.

The Links page has also been updated tonight - the above photograph has been added for MSD Bus, which has a shop in on the first floor of The Apple Mall, 14 Kings Road, Tin Hau (opposite exit A1 of Tin Hau MTR Station) and a link to their Facebook page has been added.

The first of Citybus's standard liveried Enviro 500NGs were registered yesterday and entered service today. They continue to use the series of fleet numbers allocated to the previous batch of 12-metre Enviro500s, the last being 8319. 8321 (SD2840) and 8322 (SD4179) were noted on routes 788 and 789.

My thanks to Bobby Liu for sending me a selection of photographs from his trip to Macau yesterday during which he noted several new buses.

Photograph courtesy and copyright of Bobby Liu

The first was the CNG version of Wuzhoulong, according to the driver of the ebus, this batch of CNG buses were originally planned to operate route 22, however, as the route included many low-height signboards, which were potential hazards with the roof-mounted CNG tank, they finally found their home on route MT3. Bobby advises he tried one of the batch and found it to be quite powerful and comfortable.

The next is this Wuzhoulong A10 electric bus which is on trial and is operating free daily rides to the public. Apparently one is unaware the bus is running and the only noise was generated by the air conditioning.

Transmac have just received this Euro 5 Mitsubishi Rosa R327 and it was observed on service 28C.

Another new delivery is the second of the Euro 4 Higer ordered - K255 was on route 32 yesterday and according a Facebook page of Macau buses, several units were commissioned a few days ago.

And finally, TCM has introduced a new route 22F which is operated by Wuzhoulong minibuses.

Some sad news from Singapore this morning is that an SMRT bus was involved in an accident along Dairy Farm Road which, according to news reports, resulted in one fatality and two injuries. The bus was TIB 0605M, a Mercedes Benz O405, and was on Service 700A when it skidded and flipped onto its side.

And finally, also taken yesterday was this early morning shot of Cityflyer 8011.

I have increased the size of images on the News page to 600 x 400 pixels and trust this causes no issues. In addition, rather than using the term 'new generation' each time reference is made to ADL's new buses, I have decided to refer to them simply as Enviro500NG. Any comments on either of these points would be welcome.

Route 5R operated between Yau Tong MTR Station and Kai Tak Development Centre to cater for the Hong Kong Dome Festival. Route 6R operated between Mei Foo and Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks on Stonecutters Island.

My thanks to Philip Chan and Dennis Wong for allowing me to use the above photographs.

For a second consecutive month, a record number of 'hits' were received for both the 'News' and 'Home' pages. My thanks to all those who kindly continue to allow me to use their photographs and provide information.
