Kowloon Motor Bus has introduced yet another new class, the length of which means the fleet number almost stretches across the front windscreen!! - the 3ATENUW class, of which there is presently one, registered on 15th July, is a 12.8 metre 'facelift' Enviro500 with RAS (rear axle steering). It is pictured today at University Station undergoing driver training and it is believed that it will be used on route 87K.

Meanwhile the number of KMB's white buses is ever-decreasing with the last of the 3AD class due to be retired by next week and the AV class by September.
Pictured today is AV525, set to retire on 26th July.

I am grateful to Eddy Sumantri for providing an update on some recent arrivals for rapidKL in Kuala Lumpur.

He advises that 4 buses (2 x E500s & 2 x E200s) arrived from Southampton on 14th May. A fifth bus (an E500) arrived two weeks later.

With the arrival of these buses, it has completed an order of 120 buses from Alexander Dennis (40 x E500s & 80 x E200s), in which 3 x E500s & 2 x E200s are cbu'd (completely built up) from UK. The remainder of these buses were assembled locally.

All of the cbu buses were sent to Penang island (under rapid Penang) for demonstrator & trial purposes and it was expected that these buses would be handed over in July.

Further photographs and videos of the unloading of these buses can be found at Eddy's excellent Flickr site - just follow this link.

Lai Yuen (also known as Lai Chi Kwok Amusement Park) has launched a summer carnival in Asia World Expo this year. Cars Workshop has launched a series of merchandise for the event including two Daimler Fleetlines which carry Lai Yuen advertisements from the 1980s - both features D807 (BK 5279), one on route 12 (38904) and one on route 6A - both have a destination of Lai Chi Kok. This fleet number does not correspond with the registration of D807, which should read BJ9264 and D817 is BK5279.

In addition, this semi-open topper KMB Daimler is also being released, this too being on route 12 to Lai Chi Kok.

Any further information on the above models would be most welcome.

I have been contacted by Tim Moore, one of the co-owners of preserved New World First Bus Dennis Condor DM17 here in the UK advising that owing to personal commitments they no longer have the time to devote to her and have therefore reluctantly taken the decision to offer her for sale.

Tim advises that she if fully original inside and has her 6LXCT engine, so could be restored to CMB condition if desired without much effort other than an external repaint. She has been stored under cover since purchase in 2003 so her paint is in good condition.

She is available immediately and is currently on SORN and not MOT’d but a years MOT could be put on her if the right offer is made. The rear engine door has been replaced due to corrosion of the hinges (common problem) but not yet painted, but they hold the decals for it.

Genuine enquiries should be e-mailed to Tim Moore whose e-mail address is 'doublekite@sky.com'.

This link will provide further information and the history of DM17.
