The coronavirus crisis in Hong Kong is having a severe impact on public transport patronage as a result of people staying at home. This has resulted in the bus companies using single deck buses for Western Harbour Tunnel routes to save the tunnel fee. Consequently, large numbers of buses are being stored - Citybus has a number of Cityflyer buses parked at Disneyland Car Park. There also appears to be a slow down of Transport Department vehicle registrations, resulting in new buses being stored pending registration. The above photographs were taken on 25th Feb at the Citybus Ocean Park depot. New 'Cityflyer' liveried buses up to fleet number 6871 were noted (6860 was the last registered). Fleet numbers between 6474 and 6488 were also sighted (6473 being the last registered).

Two new YouTube videos have just been posted by Simon Ayres which feature the model buses of Citybus (approx. 45mins) and New World First Bus (approx. 36 mins). In each video Simon gives a detailed background of the bus company before moving on the the models themselves, when he provides information about the actual bus type modelled, with of course excellent photography, and details of the model itself. Below are screenshots from each. Just click on either of the above images.

Another former Hong Kong bus arrived back in Hong Kong yesterday from the UK. This time it is a 12-metre Alexander bodied Volvo Olympian, new to China Light & Power in October 1994 as fleet no. 316 (GE5021). It was acquired by Citybus in 1997 and returned to the UK in 2006.

It appeared at the 2006 Showbus event in the attractive livery of Beestons, having been registered M129 BNO. It was subsequently acquired, in 2009, by Kinchs of Minety before passing to Mortons of Chineham in 2011, where is was registered D17 BUS. Subsequent owners were Steve Stockdale and Pulham's Travel. Any further information on this bus would be welcome.
