| May I thank all of you who took the time
and trouble to complete my recent visitors survey. I have now collated
all this information, both good and bad, and will endeavour to comment
upon some of the points raised as it is impossible for me to list every
like, dislike, suggestion. The following are the main ones.
Likes I won't bother you with these, other to thank you for all your comments. Dislikes The long-winded route to view a particular model page with several pages and use of drop down menus Changes already made to the site include the simplified Models page, avoiding the need to visit several pages and use of drop down menus to get to the page you want. The list of updates relevant to one model seems quite extensive The Updates page will now only list the primary page that has been updated, i.e. the model page - all associated pages, i.e. manufacturer of the model, operator and vehicle type, whilst being updated, will not be included in the list. Sometimes broken links Yes, I am the first to admit that there is nothing worse - and in my haste, I get it wrong more than I would like - if you find a broken link - please let me know! It encourages me to spend far too much money I know the feeling!! The colours of the site are annoying Suggestions please - I just like blue, red and yellow!! Difficulty in accessing previous month's news page Further help has already been added to top of each News and Updates page, plus a further Navigation section added to the Site Information page. It would be useful if availability of the models in Australia were detailed Hmmm, a difficult one - I was actually surprised how many Australian visitors there were, so perhaps one/some of you can let me have some further info. Lack of information regarding the availability of the books Yes, I have to agree - for the UK, I mainly use Ian Allan - certainly in Hong Kong there is 80M Bus Model Shop and World of Diecast - other than that I don't know - please let me know and I will include this information. The patchy coverage of the forthcoming models section Very difficult - I rely entirely on the goodwill of others, some individuals and some commercial concerns such as 80M Bus Model Shop, Jotus Model Depot, World of Diecast, Citybus, New World First Bus, ABC Models and Collector's Model to name a few. I cannot keep pestering these people/organisations for news, and accept, with gratitude, whatever is offered. Hence, sometimes, information is patchy. Some of the prices on the site are off the mark Again I would agree - is it better not to have them? - let me know - alternatively let me know what the current prices are. Sometimes the photos are not clear enough Yes, again I accept
that sometimes, for new releases, this is the case, but again I am relying
on others. I would disagree once the model is released, as the standard
and quality of photos featuring the "front nearside", "rear offside", "front"
and "back" views, are mainly "clickable", giving the option to view the
excellent photograph at a much higher resolution.
Suggestions More detailed reviews of models/ Use of grades/marks out of ten for models I am not an expert on Hong Kong Buses, and would be uneasy in reviewing models in great detail. There are the likes of Campbell Morrison best suited for this. More to the point, I by no means, for financial reasons, acquire all these models. I think the idea of a grade or mark out of ten is a good one. A mark of 10 would be out of this world, whilst a mark of 1 would be an embarrassment. I would set out a table to explain each mark. Perhaps if manufacturers were prepared to supply me with a sample model, this could be achieved. So if anyone from Corgi, EFE, Collector's Model, New World First Bus, or any others happen to read this, please send me your sample! Having said that, I am grateful to Cars Workshop for their sample models, both of which I would give 8 out of 10. I would also thank ABC Models for their sample models received in the past. To include details of UK bus models I do not have the interest in UK bus models, and cannot possibly afford the time that would be required to include these on the site. More information from where I can buy these models and prices The Stockists page details the major suppliers. Collector's Models are generally available, as are the Corgi standard releases. Prices tend to vary from those at swapmeets to those at small model shops struggling to survive. Any information regarding an average would be welcome. A more prominent link to the Forthcoming releases page Yes agreed, and I will get round to this, just as soon as I can decide where to put it! - suggestions? What about a photo gallery, a picture of each casting for reference Not sure - alot of photos, even small ones, take time to download - Anyone else with suggestions? Add a Chinese version Sorry, I can't read Chinese, let alone type it!! An On-line shop This is a hobby/pastime (believe it or not!) - I do not want to get involved with buying/selling from/to others, and the implications this will have on my time and pocket. Inclusion of Japanese models OK - in due course! 11th
