The model - the first AEC Regent casting from Cars Workshop was issued in Hong Kong in January 2001.

The bus - KMB introduced the AEC Regent Mk V bus to its fleet in Hong Kong in the 1960s.  It was the most historic and unprecedented bus type amongst the KMB bus fleet in terms of body length (34 feet) and passenger capacity (117 passengers).  The bus was deployed mainly on the busiest routes in the Kowloon Peninsula, such as 1, 2B, 5, 6B, and 13.

The AEC Regent Mk V bus (also called the Long Dragon) served the public for over 25 years.  It has made a significant contribution to the transportation history of Hong Kong.  And as such, even today, it is still remembered by the public at large.

AD165 entered service in April 1966 and was withdrawn in May 1987
