The model - details first emerged in late November 2014 that A&K Models were to release two AEC Regent Mk V models representing A80 (38901) and A162. No further updates were received until in early March 2015 these two models were featured on the Concorde Hobby Shop Facebook page, albeit with the producer having changed from A&K Models to Fulltech, a new name in the model bus market. It is not a licensed product of KMB and therefore separate decals are provided for the purchaser to apply.

The busKowloon Motor Bus introduced 210 AEC Regent Mk V buses into its fleet between 1963 and 1966 to cater for increasing demand due to the rapid growth in population at that time. The bus was unprecedented at that time in terms of body length (34 feet) and passenger capacity (117 passengers). To cope with 'one-man-operation' scheme in the mid 1970s , the exit door and staircase of the AEC Regent V buses were removed from the rear and rebuilt in the middle of the bus. These buses was deployed on urban and Shatin district route nos. 6, 6A, 6C, 13 and 80K until their retirement in 1987.
