The busIn November 2012, Alexander Dennis unveiled its 'new-generation', three-axle Enviro500 double deck, and announced advance orders for more than 530. The stylish, new-look vehicle is lighter, more fuel-efficient and can carry 90 seated passengers. It is designed specifically for the Asia Pacific market with all of Hong Kong's franchised operators taking significant orders.  

Kowloon Motor Bus received 802 such examples, allocating them to the ATENU class and becoming the company's largest ever vehicle type. ATENU1 was first registered on 23rd April 2013 and ATENU802 being registered on 23rd November 2015. Subsequent deliveries were of the 'facelift' version, although still carrying the ATENU classification.
