The model - The first release from Cars Workshop was issued during November 2000. This model was winner of this site's 'Favourite Model of the Year - 2000'.

The bus - D331 was the first of a batch of 20 vehicles specially designed for KMB by Daimler, in an attempt to regain the market lost to AEC, and were the last rear-staircase buses to enter service for KMB. It entered service in February 1967. A further 200 vehicles were delivered, known as the 'E' class.

The model depicts the vehicle in its original condition - prior to the application of yellow bands at the front to denote one conductor operation (1974) and also prior to the removal of the rear staircase, being replaced with centre a staircase and centre exit (1980). The width of the front entrance was also narrowed and moved forward to enable one man operation. D331 was withdrawn in April 1980.

The above information has been extracted from Mike Davis's
excellent book Hong Kong Buses - Kowloon Motor Bus.
