The model -
although mentioned as long ago as August 2000, this model
was not
released in Hong Kong until 15th February 2001. The model includes
seated
passengers, and as it carries the all-over decals of China Paint's
"Flower"
brand, it comes complete with a paint tin!!!
It is rumoured
that there may be a second
version, featuring Fleet No. 838, with a destination of "Not in
service",
with a quantity of 500.
Well on 20th May
2001, the rumour was confirmed,
albeit with this second release featuring Fleet No. 833, on Route No
170
to Wah Fu.
The bus
- Citybus have 80 12-metre air-conditioned Dennis Dragons, the first
batch
of 30 being delivered in early 1995. These buses were unusual in as
much
as, whilst their Duple Metsec bodies were supplied in kit form, as are
a large number of Hong Kong buses, they were actually assembled in
Portugal!
They also feature an Alexander-style fronts, making them easily
identifiable
as Citybus vehicles.
Fleet number 855
is one of the second batch
of 30, introduced in late 1995/early 1996. This batch were the first to
have the reduced 2 + 2 seating arrangement (previously all were 3 + 2),
giving increased passenger comfort, another innovation from Citybus.
This
model carries China Paint "Flower" brand livery, as applied to the
original
vehicle.
