The bus - fleet number 5103 is the last of a batch of 103 12-metre Volvo Super Olympians delivered to New World First Bus between July 1999 and November 2002.
 
 

Following the great success of the launch of the 12-metre Alexander ALX500 bus replica in kit form, Creative Master Northcord Limited is proud to release the fully-built tri-axle Volvo Super Olympian / Alexander ALX500 model, hkbus 1006.

hkbus 1006 replicates New World First Bus fleet number 5103, a Volvo Super Olympian with Alexander ALX500 bodywork, registered KV 2768. It entered service in late 2002.

The most distinguishing feature of this NWFB Super Olympian is the rear aspect. The numeral repeater is relocated to a box above the upper-deck emergency window rather than in between the emergency window and the air-conditioning equipment. This unique feature makes the buses different from other fleets in Hong Kong.

The model carries route number 682 which is operated solely by New World First Bus and it travels from the Lee On Estate bus terminus in Ma On Shan in the New Territories to Chai Wan East terminus on Hong Kong Island. The route utilises the Eastern Harbour Crossing to cross the Victoria Harbour.

As on the previous successful hkbus 1000 series models produced by CMNL, hkbus 1006 has many innovative designs on the tooling. The replica features excellent detailing, inside and out, including handrails on board and detailed, individual air-vents above the seats. Of note is the improved upper-deck ceiling detail that features the correct colours of the prototype vehicle. The most remarkable accuracy is seen on the front dome that represents this feature of the Alexander ALX500 bodywork. 

Once again, this is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the windows and livery application. The model has no ugly metal poles to hold it together. 

The hkbus 1006 model is limited to 1200 pieces worldwide. They will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) and Porte Publishing Company (Japan).
