The model - this is one of two 11-metre Volvo Olympians announced by Model 1 on 10th April 2019 and both were released on 11th September 2019. The other features VA5 on route 81 (63514/20084).

The bus - VA38 was acquired by NWFB on 1st September 1998 when it took over the franchised bus operations from China Motor Bus (CMB). It was first registered by CMB on 15th July 1996.
