In 1976, China Motor Bus decided
to change its livery from cream over red, the same colours as its rival
Kowloon Motor Bus, which was now operating on Hong Kong island. It decided
to apply experimental liveries to a batch of new Daimler Fleetlines. Pictured
above are two such liveries, neither of which proved popular enough to
be adopted. Both were taken in Central, opposite the now famous HSBC building.
My sincere thanks to JP Chen, who wrote:-
"I was going through a bunch of old photographs
when I was living in Hong Kong back in the late 70s or early 80s and I
came across these two photographs. Both buses were China Motor Bus'
Leyland Fleetline LF class in their experimental colour livery. One
was LF122 and the other was LF126, both with Alexander bodywork. " |
