| The Mercedes Benz O.405 buses
with Hispano Carrocera bodywork is one of the most well-liked models by
bus enthusiasts in Singapore. 308 buses in total were purchased by Trans
Island Bus Services (TIBS, now SMRT Buses). As it is approaching its local
statutory age of 17 years, a tribute tour was organised to commemorate
its service on the local roads.
On 15 January 2011, two buses were chartered
for the event. TIB828L (a variant with air conditioning preinstalled) and
TIB762S (a variant without air conditioning but was converted later on
during its years of) was chartered for the event.
More than 50 guests attended the event, of
which one came down especially from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The bus route for the event was specially
tailored with withdrawn routes from local bus service rationalisations
throughout the years. The event also featured a stopover whereby guests
had up-close shots of the buses.
