Set for release shortly are these two resin China Motor Bus Dennis Darts with Carlyle bodywork from 312 Model. DC9 (EZ 597) is on route 590 to South Horizons whilst DC13 (EZ 4951) in on route 15 to The Peak.

In the foreground is the latest Best Choose Morris

Following its first sighting at Heysham Docks in the UK (see News item 11th July 2010), the Kowloon Motor Bus two-axle Volvo B9TL  arrived in Hong Kong last weekend. It is still under the custody of Volvo Hong Kong for testing and mechanical adjustment in order to fulfil the requirements of the Transportation Department and is not expected to join the KMB fleet yet.

Meanwhile the Citybus example is likely soon to undergo a tilt test before vehicle registration in early September.

A new page has now been added for the recently announced Kowloon Motor Bus Scania K310UD/Caetano from Drumwell (DW10803), confirmation of which is now included in the latest edition of 'KMB Today'.

 

A new page has also been added for the recently published MCW Metrobus book by Dominic Kung. 


 
Delivery of the batch of 40 Volvo B7RLE with MCV bodywork for Kowloon Motor Bus has now been completed, with AVC40 being registered on 12th August.

Pictured above is a further batch of Wrights Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs at Heysham Docks, having just been shipped across the Irish Sea and prior to their drive to Southampton Docks, and onward shipping to Hong Kong.

a van with an identity crisis!

Nothing to do with oriental buses, just a couple of snaps from my recent holiday.


 
The only news received during my absence was kindly sent by regular contributor Philip Chan, who advises that there are to be two further resin releases of the Dennis Dart/Carlyle. DC9 will feature on route 590 (South Horizons) and DC13 is on route 15 (Peak), Concorde Hobby Shop are accepting advance orders but the exact release date is not yet known.

My thanks to Wei Shen and Jack Aw Yong for confirming that the SBS Transit Sunlong hybrid (SBS 8000Z) entered service on Sunday 8th August operating on route 185. The second hybrid, SBS 8001X, is expected to enter service shortly.

Regular Singapore contributor Wei Shen advises that the month of August is likely to be an exciting one for those in Singapore, with  National Day and the Youth Olympic Games celebrations. Hopefully there will be further updates from Wei Shen, and the other regular contributors from Singapore, during the month.

In the meantime, SBS Transit's Scania K310UD/Gemilang demonstrator, SBS 7888K, has been redeployed to operate Service 25 from Monday, 2nd August and is pictured above. A larger image has been added to the Click here to visit the Xtra pages pages. 


 
The 'Books' section of the Click here to visit the Xtra pages pages is currently being revised.

 

My thanks to Dave Rogers for informing me that the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service will present donors with a limited edition bus keychain from August 9 to 22 for their donations.

They can also get a T-shirt co-signed by the service's celebrity ambassador Kay Tse, top snooker player Marco Fu and cycling gold medallist Michael Lo.

The two versions of Kowloon Motor Bus Leyland Olympian are advertised as 'Coming Soon' on the Cars Workshop website and with a release date of 7th August (I believe) on the 80M Bus Model Shop website.

My thanks to 80M Bus Model Shop for confirming the above information and for sending photographs of the two models. Both feature Leyland Olympian fleet no. AL57 (EY 4088). The first (92303) is on route 40 to Tsuen Wan (Nina Tower) whilst the second (92304) is on route 106 to Wong Tai Sin. Each is limited to 900 pieces and will retail for HK$298.


 
Released yesterday in Hong Kong was the resin China Motor Bus Dennis Dart from Model 1,  (CX8), and a couple of new photographs have been added. The second (CX1) is set for release next week.

The influx of new vehicles for both the Citybus and Kowloon Motor Bus fleets continues, with 18 new KMB vehicles being registered on 29th/30th July and a further 28 new Volvo B9TL's (including the Citybus example) arriving in Hong Kong on 31st July.
