Hong Kong Post are to release a set of stamps featuring Hong Kong's buses, but not until NEXT September! Entitled Hong Kong Buses, the set is to be released on 24th September 2013. The description from the Hong Kong Post website reads:- 'Buses have been serving Hong Kong since the 1920s. Throughout the decades, the models and specifications of buses have continued to evolve while the standards of services has been raised. Recreating classic Hong Kong buses with delicate brushstrokes and in a style that resembles age-old calendars, this stamp issue takes us through the time tunnel and will prove a must-have item for philatelists and bus fans!'
For those who use the Local Standing Order Service (LSOS) and with orders valued at HK$50 or more, a special "Hong Kong Buses" Octopus Card Holder is being offered. Full details can be found at the Hong Kong Post website (link now removed).

Showbus 2012 took place today at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and the highlight of the day (for me at least!) was former China Motor Bus Leyland Olympian LM10, pictured above looking very smart in the sunshine. Since making its first public appearance in July, it has received a slighter darker shade of blue. This was, unless I am corrected, the only former Hong Kong bus at the event.
Nothing
oriental about this bus, but it did attract plenty of attention and it
was my first 'sighting' of it - quite impressive!

I am grateful to Mark Chua, regular contributor of news from Singapore, for providing the above photograph and the following report:- 'An unregistered King Long XMQ6121G citybus for SBS Transit was spotted on undergoing test runs in SBS Transit's livery without the corporate logo. I was lucky to bump into the bus earlier this week as it made its way towards a workshop for some work to be done on the bus. The bus had a technical fault on the roadside which rendered the bus unable to move and allowed me to view the bus up close for a while, and the technicians rectified the problem within 10 minutes allowing the bus to proceed to its destination. This King Long XMQ6121G is an integral bus and is near identical to the ones currently operated by Transtar Travel for their crossborder service TS8. It arrived in Singapore earlier this year on 25th May from China and was spotted by some local enthusiasts while it transiting to King Long's holding area from the shipyard. It is believed that this bus is a demonstrator unit that will enter trial with SBS Transit in the near future. It is a low entry unit, and is fitted with
Soon after receipt of the above, Mark provided a further update:- 'After sending the previous e-mail, I checked my facebook and obtained the latest update - my friend had analysed the bus photos and found that this King Long XMQ6121G is likely a Diesel Electric Hybrid bus, a quote from the ST Engineering website reads;- "ST Kinetics is currently working with Xiamen King Long on production of a diesel-electric hybrid bus for the Chinese market, with the launch scheduled for mid 2011. In Singapore, "ST Kinetics and King Long Singapore will also be collaborating with SBS Transit Ltd on a passenger service trial for the diesel-hybrid bus."
My thanks to Philip Chan for providing the above photograph of Citybus Dennis Dart 1482, which was destroyed by fire yesterday. 14th September 2012
