The model - news of the release of this model, and that of 39406, was announced on this site on 15th June 2009. It was released on 5th July 2009. 

The bus - ATEU1 is an Alexander Dennis Enviro500 which was delivered new to Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) in May 2006 as fleet number ATE257. It was fitted with a Euro IV engine, which met the latest and toughest emission standards in the world. It was then renumbered to ATEU1. Model 39406 represents the vehicle at this time. 

In February 2009, ATEU1 was fitted with a new Euro V engine, making it Asia’s first double-deck bus with a Euro V engine. This model represents the vehicle at this time. By effectively reducing the emissions of nitrogen oxides, the Euro V engine meets the latest and toughest emission standards in the world, contributing to a cleaner environment. ATEU1 primarily operates on Route B1 between Tin Shui Wai Railway Station and the Lok Ma Chau Railway Station.
