The model - this is one of six models announced by MTR on 5th June 2026 to mark the 2nd anniversary of the introduction of its electric buses. A second version of Z01 on route K54 and a destination of Tuen Mun Town Centre (MTR86001) is one of the models, along with four Mitsubishi MK117Js in varying KCR/MTR liveries.

The model is available as a set to MTR e-store members, which includes both versions of this model, otherwise it is available on its own. All the models were available on the MTR e-Store on Monday 8th June along with confirmation that the product will become unavailable on 2026/06/28 at 17:00. The models subsequently appeared on the 80M Bus Model Shop website on 8th July.

The busOn 13th November 2023, Alexander Dennis announced that it had received an order for thirty-five battery-electric Enviro500 double-deck buses from MTR Corporation.

The first bus was registered in April 2024 and was allocated the fleet number Z01. On 6th June MTR announced the bus would make its debut on 8th June at 12 noon, operating route K54 from MTR Siu Hong Station (North) to Wo Tin Estate.
