The model - an early pre-production example of this casting appeared at the Hong Kong Exhibition of the History of Hong Kong Buses held in August 2009. Confirmation that two models were to be issued appeared in the October 2009 edition of KMB Today, one in standard white livery and one in pink (92702). Both models were released in Hong Kong on 30th January.

The bus - to fill the gap between the smaller Toyota Coaster minibuses and the full size single deckers, Kowloon Motor Bus took delivery of 168 Mitsubishi Fuso MK117J between May 1990 and September 1993. All were fitted with air-conditioning and operated a variety of routes. Some featured a luggage area for use of the airport routes. Several received a pink 'Nathan Shopper' livery to promote several routes serving Nathan Road. AM155 entered service on 3 May 1993.
