DD1 was ordered as part of China Motor Bus's
evaluation of second generation rear-engined buses. It entered service
in January 1979, having been exhibited at the Motor Show, in Birmingham,
in 1978 - Extracted from Mike Davis's excellent book Hong
Kong Buses - China Motor Bus - 65 Years
"An interesting observation on the grill
and logo/registration plate arrangement. In its early days - as seen in
a picture in Mike Davis' book - the DENNIS logo was between the grill and
the windscreen. The grill was painted silver, and the registration plate
was on the bumper. By 1996 when I took the attached image, the reg plate
had been moved up above the grill, which by then was painted blue. A small
Dennis logo was placed on the grill.
Not sure when the reg plate was moved onto
the grill as shown on the model."
