This is the first bus model from Arko, who have previously issued ferries for New World First Ferry. This model was due for release in August 2002, but was not in fact released until February 2003. Note the unusual scale of 1:68. The first 1,888 models come with a special certificate.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF RX4JFKA A/T LIGHT BUS & The RX BUS MODEL

Striding into the 21st century, TCM has expressly introduced a new model of HINO RX two-door buses for the provision of better services to the citizens and visitors of Macau. The Hino RX light buses being used by TCM are originally imported from Japan where they have been in use in the public transportation service for some time. These buses were manufactured in 2000 and put into service on routes No.12 and 22 in October of the same year.

This model of bus, with its 6.99M length, 2.08M width, 2.82M height and 37 passengers loading capacity, is much wider than comparably sized buses found on Macao’s street. As well, this bus has a lower-bed type body design with only 350MM gap between the ground and the bus and stair-steps with a height of less than 185MM. These minimized heights are considerably less than those of other buses on the streets and provide safer boarding and exiting for children and the elderly.

As for comfort, this bus has minimized noise by using advanced sound insulation technology and all-steel casting. Maximum road vibrations are absorbed through use of an air-cushion shock-absorbing system in the front and back rows so passengers can be more comfortable in any seat on the bus. As well, comfort is ensured because of the soft cushion chairs, a wider middle passenger’s way, a sufficient number of handrails / handstraps and easily reachable bell cords. In addition, these are two-door buses which facilitate smoother and more convenient boarding and exiting from the bus, thus avoiding blocking traffic at the stops.

In terms of safety, the Hino RX bus is provided with auto-door inductors equipped with a special electronic-eye device that prevents door opening if a passenger gets too close to the exit and thus protects passengers from being bumped. The all pneumatic braking system with improved two-way circles is very sensitive and effectively shortens braking distance with only a light step on the brake pedal.

As for functioning and control, the Hino RX bus uses a 145P.S. J05C# engine which produces 38KGM of maximum torque force in less than 1700rpm, resulting in powerful drive and economical fuel consumption. The minimum cyclic radius of the RX bus is only 5.8M and with the ball-dynamic steering wheel, drivers can make turns with high proficiency, something especially suitable to the narrow roads in Macao. Driver fatigue is reduced, as well, through the use of an automatic transmission.

To protect the environment, the engine in the RX bus utilises HMMS of Hino, which transforms the fuel into tinier particles for more effective and thorough fuel combustion and reduces harmful waste gases in the exhaust. This is the design for a healthier environment.

RX buses have received high comments from the citizens and visitors of Macau ever since they were launched.  To commemorate the service of RX buses in Macau for 2 years, TCM cordially presents to you a 1:68 scale model of the RX bus.  Each model is engraved with unique serial number and is released globally in a limited number of 2888.  In consideration that TCM will not produce models of the same model number hereafter, the scale models are particularly valuable for collection as well as appreciation.
