The model
- news of this model was announced on 18th December 2009 when Network
Shuttle confirmed they are the sole agents for the
distribution of
the this Shanghai SK5105GP trolleybus from a new manufacturer known as
52Bus.
I managed to acquire this model in October 2025!
The bus
- In September 1997, the 10-metre SK5105GP manufactured by the Shanghai
Bus Factory was operated by the First, Second and Third Tram Companies,
these vehicles utilising the 151 series axle chassis from Shanghai
Puijang and was equipped with a ZQ-60DC motor from the Shanghai
Electric Motor Factory. Its simple and elegant classic British styling
made it a national hit. This
pioneering model of the Shanghai 5 series bus was used in Guangzhou,
Taiyan, Qingdao, X'ian and Zhengzhou, in addition to Shanghai. Two
large batches of these trollybuses were put into service in Shanghai in
1997 and 1999. Once seen on the streets of Shanghai, they were
nicknamed 'Little Square Heads' by enthusiasts. All were retired in
2006.
