In December 2015, Tiny announced it would issue a self-assembly model of a Kowloon Motor Bus Depot, and this was subsequently released in July 2016. In December 2016, a China Motor Bus Depot was released, this being based on the depot at Wong Chuk Hang, now operated by Citybus/New World First Bus.

Having seen one of these depots on display whilst in Hong Kong in November 2016 and when the China Motor Bus version was announced, I convinced myself, and more importantly my wife, that I needed one!!

I made enquiries with my regular model supplier, Jotus.com, as to shipping costs and how substantial the packaging was and the order was placed. A week later, having tracked the parcel on its journey, I collected it from my local Parcelforce depot.

It was well packed and after checking all the parts were present, work began to assemble it. The end office building came in one piece, but the rest of the depot had to be assembled. Overall it took around two hours but this was without applying the stickers for the paint lines, etc. Items of street furniture were also included which have yet to be added as have some air-con units which require glueing to the windows.

The depot will hold around thirty 1/76th scale buses parked, plus room for a few others.

As mentioned, the model is based on the Wong Chuk Hang depot and the

Overall, I am very impressed with this model and plan to add some additional street furniture/buildings to create a simple diorama. One minor criticism is the use of a slightly different shade of blue on the plastic section that forms the personnel doorway.

I am grateful to Joe at Jotus.com for supplying the model and to Donald MacRae and Keith Wood for allowing me to use their excellent photographs.
