CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD LIMITED

PRESS RELEASE - Date: 24th November 2008.

Model kindly supplied by
Creative Master Northcord Limited

Sunwin SWB6100V2 - cnbus 1014 Shanghai City Sightseeing

Having made the significant success of its cnbus 1013 model, Creative Master Northcord Limited has proudly released its latest example of the newly re-tooled Sunwin model, cnbus 1014. It is carrying the Shanghai City Sightseeing livery.

Demonstrating the flexibility of the cnbus 1000 castings, cnbus 1014 incorporates features drawn from both mainstream styles issued to date.

cnbus 1014 has the original style front, with individual front bumper, but has the newer style of driver rear-view mirrors rather than the one-piece “rabbit ear” style normally associated with the older front.

Internally, the City Sightseeing buses operated on route 6 by Shanghai Ba-Shi Group have the two-step entrance that was first introduced on cnbus 1012 (Shanghai Shen Xin bus).

cnbus 1014 features bus number S0D-214 (registration ?B-07830) and, although operated by Shanghai Ba-Shi Group, it carries City Sightseeing livery rather than standard fleet colours. Other routes terminating at Shanghai Stadium, such as route 10 also carry City Sightseeing livery, although operated by other operators, using buses with Sunwin chassis and with bodywork to a similar style to the cnbus 1014 model.

Route 6 terminates at Shanghai Stadium. The Shanghai Stadium is a multi-use stadium In Shanghai, China. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium was built in 1997 for the 8th National Games of People's Republic of China event, and has an area of 190 thousand m2. It can hold about 80,000 people, so it is also called the "80,000 people's Stadium" . It is the second-largest stadium in China after completion of the Beijing National Stadium in 2007. It had been used for football preliminaries at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

cnbus 1014 features excellent detailing, inside and out. This is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the windows and application of Shanghai City Sightseeing livery on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible on the paint. The model has no unnecessary metal poles to hold it together.

The cnbus 1014 model is limited to 1000 pieces for worldwide distribution. They will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), Transit Graphics (Australia), cnmycar.com (P.R. China) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively.

A new page has tonight been added for the Citybus Enviro 500 (80892). Whilst no official photographs of the model have been received, several recent shots of the 'real thing' have been added to this page.

I have just received the New World First Bus Dennis Dragon (MB112) and further photographs have now been added to this page. I was surprised to find the manufacturers name on the packaging to still be Model Bus Evolution, as early reports (see News for 7th October) suggested a name change to Model Bus Revolution.

My thanks to the Worldwide Model Buses website for featuring this site on their weekly 'Window on the Web'.

Auto Motor Collection, who issued two resin versions of Kowloon Motor Bus's unique air-conditioned Dennis Jubilant (amb001-hk), are planning to release to further versions of this vehicle in it's latter life, without the air-con equipment. The models are expected to be released during January 2009. Further details will appear here shortly.

Many congratulations to Peter Harrison for all his hard work in compiling what must be the most comprehensive list of 1:76 scale diecast model buses, which is arranged by fleet/operator. Over 3,000 models have been grouped into more than 800 fleets/operators. All known Code 1 and Code 2 releases from ABC, Britbus, CMNL, Corgi, CsM and EFE have been included.

This superb point of reference can be found on the Worldwide Model Buses website, under the heading Model Lists.

Today this site celebrates its 10th Anniversary

Thursday 5th November 1998 saw the launch of the site, which at that time, was one of the first non-commercial
websites aimed at providing information for the model bus enthusiast. Initially covering models only from Hong Kong,
it subsequently developed to include those from China, Singapore and Japan. In its early days it consisted of a
handful of pages, but now includes more than 1,200 although its general format has remained the same. It not
only includes diecast buses and trams, but also resin models, toys and books as well as a special section featuring
the real buses. This News page regularly receives over 700 'hits' a day, with visitors coming from as far afield
as Canada, Chile, South Africa, Iceland, Japan and Australia.

Achieving this milestone would not have been possible without the help of a great many people, of which there
are too many to list here, but you will know who you are. Special mention must, however, be made to several
people, the most important being my family, especially my wife, for not instigating divorce proceedings
despite the endless hours I have spent sat at a computer!

Special thanks also to Sindy & Joe of Jotus.com, Mr Kwok of 80M Bus Model Shop, Danny Chan of Creative Master Northcord Ltd, Bus Fan World, Concorde Hobby Shop, Dennis, Dennis Law, Donald MacRae, DM, Network Shuttle
and Andrew Shirley, all of whom have continued to support the site over the years.
