The model
- for some reason, Corgi or KMB decided to give this model an identity
crisis. Despite being labelled as an Olympian, the model has been given
the identity of a Duple Metsec bodied Dennis Dragon! This is despite
the reunification livery being applied to an Alexander Olympian (see
photograph
below). The model was initially released in Hong Kong only during
October
1997, but quantities subsequently appeared in the UK. The AD class has
been modelled both by Drumwell and Collector's Model and examples of
these
can be found here.
In
September 2006, I received a photograph of a second version of this
model, which featured a pale blue skirt, as opposed to the green skirt
applied to this model. All other details of this model remained
identical with the exception that there was no decals on the roof. It
was subsequently confirmed that this second version was issued as a
gift to customers of KMB.
In July 2020 I was lucky enough to acquire one of these models and below are some comparison photographs.
The bus
- as mentioned above, AD247 is an 11 metre Dennis Dragon with Duple Metsec
bodywork. The AD class totalled 360 vehicles. |
