After a three week spell of no model news, the 80M Bus Model website has tonight announced the release of 72 models featuring the Cars Workshop Volvo B9TL/Volgren casting, this time in a plain white livery (39502SW). I am advised that the model carries neither a Volvo or Volgren badge and displays no destination and is retailing for HK$298.

As promised, the Xtra section of the site has been updated with further photographs of some ex China Light and Power Olympians now operating in the UK.

Softrepublic Limited has announced that they will shortly be publishing a new book called 'Overview of Hong Kong's Transport'. A brief introduction, in Chinese, is now available online - just follow the link.

While very quiet on the model front at the moment, I am able to feature news of yet another ex-Hong Kong Olympian now operating in the UK. This former China Light and Power example (No 314) is now registered J590 CEV and is believed to be operating for Florida Coaches of Chelmsford Halstead. The photograph was taken today in Bury St Edmunds by JKO 126. Any further information would be welcome. I plan to upload further photographs to the Xtra section of the site tomorrow.

How eerie is that!!

I went to my local W H Smith shop this morning to buy the latest edition of Buses magazine, only to see a Shamrock Buses Olympian on the front cover! For those interested in this attractive and immaculate fleet, have a look at my 'Homepage', which can be found here. (link removed 19th March 2018)

Former Citybus Olympian No. 345 is now owned by my local coach operator, Roadliner Passenger Transport. It presently carries the orange and cream livery of it's former short lived owner, Shamrock Buses, also local to me in Poole, Dorset. I hope to add a special page to the Xtra section of the site once it is in it's new owners livery, which will also include photographs showing it operating in Hong Kong.

My thanks to Paolo for sending me some photographs of the Scania K95UD whilst 'on test' in Hong Kong. I can't be certain of the registration, but it may be MT886 - I am sure someone will be able to confirm, or otherwise!

*** UPDATE ***

The registration number is MT6551 and Fleet number ASU1

Not model bus related, but probably of interest to many visitors to the site, the 80M website gives details of a new model ferry. This Bauhinia branded Hong Kong Ferry dangerous goods ferry also doubles as a rather ostentatiously decorated harbour cruise vessel. The model chosen is the Man On, and thanks to regular contributor Donald MacRae, I am able to include a photograph of the real thing!

My thanks to regular contributor Andrew Shirley for advising me that he has come across yet another 'Spanish' version of an ABC model, this time the China Motor Bus Guy Arab water bowser (x1002). Photographs have just been added.
