This 'rear-end' shot is interesting in that 8002, the newest of the E500NGs to enter service is alongside 2100, the first Duple Metsec bodied Trident new in 1997.

Citybus has wasted no time in pressing their new-generation Enviro500s into service - fleet nos. 8000, 8001 and 8002 all being noted on Cityflyer services this morning. My thanks to Philip Chan and Network Shuttle for providing photographs, more of which have been added to the Click here to visit the Xtra pages section.

New 'Borismaster' buses for Citybus?

My thanks to Keith L McGillivray for allowing me to use his computer generated images of the London 'Borismaster' bus in Citybus livery - tri-axle and two-axle layouts.  More of Keith's work and photos can be found on his excellent Flickr site.

The last four Citybus 12-metre Dennis Dragons from the first batch to be delivered (801-830) were retired on Friday, 22nd March, these being 801, 814, 820 and 821. Interestingly, 814, captured in the above photograph taken less than two weeks ago, appears to have received a fresh repaint - this is in fact not the case. The new livery is in the form of vinyls and is a result of the previously carried advertising on the bus expiring several weeks before the bus's retirement, and the advertising company being responsible for returning the bus into standard livery - albeit for only a few weeks!

Thanks to Donald MacRae for providing some further photographs of the actual Citybus Cityflyer 8203 which have now been added to the appropriate page

Citybus Olympian 579 has received all over advertising for 'Faberge: Legacy of Imperial Russia' exhibition currently being held in the Hong Kong Cultural Museum whilst non-franchised Leyland Olympian carries all over advertising for Sony, promoting their new audio/vision products, and was noted yesterday operating a free shuttle service from Mong Kok to Causeway Bay.

My thanks to Doug Stewart for sending me a selection of photographs of his Citybus trolleybus. He commissioned Dream Bus Model to produce an authentic model of the trolleybus and the above photograph shows on the left the original version commissioned by 80M Bus Model Shop back in 2001 in standard Citybus livery, which it never carried. On the right is Doug's commissioned model carrying the green livery applied to the prototype. Further photographs have been added to the Click here to visit the Xtra pages section.

Whilst new buses have dominated recent news, some interesting buses have or are set to retire shortly. New World First Bus Duple Metsec bodied Dennis Dragon DA95, pictured above on route 590A, is one of a batch of four identical buses purchased from HACTL in 1999. DA94 and DA96 have already been retired and DA95 is expected to follow suit on Monday leaving just DA93 in service for several more weeks. The Dennis badge appears to have been 'acquired' already!

The demise of the Kowloon Motor Bus 11-metre Duple Metsec bodied Dennis Dragons (AD class) continues with AD190 the latest to be retired on 14th March. It is pictured in Luen Wo Hui in November 2010 whilst on route 70K.

The buses of Macau have rarely been featured on the site so I am grateful to Bobby Liu for providing a selection of photographs taken during the week which will be added to the site shortly.

As mentioned earlier this week, the annual Hong Kong Transport Society's bus rally takes place tomorrow and any photographs of the event would be most welcome.

Two recent infringements of copyright leads me to remind visitors that all photographs posted on this site are copyright of Oriental Model Buses unless acknowledged to another source. You are NOT welcome to use any photographs without prior written permission from the owner. In addition, as a matter of policy, I do not allow the use of any of my photographs for use on auction sites such as eBay and I will take all necessary steps to ensure any infringement of copyright results in listings being removed, as one eBay seller has discovered today.
