The model - towards
the end of April 2012 it was announced that Model 1 were to
produce no less than four versions of Citybus MAN NL262,
namely 1569
in Cityflyer livery on route A10, 1501 in Stagecoach
style livery on
route 85, 1516 on
route 12A and 1537
in standard livery on route 11.
1569 and 1501 were the first to be released in early June.
I
believe all four versions come in a standard box, as shown below whilst
the limited edition certificate gives the total quantity of 1100, being
the total for all four models. A unique number is not provided.
The
model is affixed to the plastic base by two screws but a wide strip of
cling film is wrapped around the base and roof of the model, thus
ensuring the two screws do not take the full weight of the model in
transit. A standard clear perspex case clips on to the base.
It's
difficult to know where to start when it comes the model itself, as it
really is a delight! The paintwork is crisp and well applied, as is the
gold relief and black trim. The interior just gets better with superbly
detailed seating, luggage racks, grab hooks, handrails... the list goes
on!
I have included as many photographs as possible to show the various
detail, as I believe a picture paints a thousand words!
In my opinion, a superbly detailed model - so much so that I believe
stocks are already limited. My thanks to Network Shuttle
for providing this sample model.
The bus
- Citybus purchased sixty of these single-deckers in 1998 and they
were allocated fleet numbers 1501-1560. A further twenty were
added in 2000
(1561-1580). The last 11 of the batch were sold in 2004/5 to
New
Lantao
Bus, Discovery Bay Transport and one to an operator in New Zealand. In
2006, 1560-1569 underwent modifications which included the
removal
of
the centre exit doors and the fitting of luggage racks, and emerged in
Cityflyer colours, ready for the launch of the new Cityflyer route A10
from Aberdeen to the airport - further details of this launch can be
found here.
