The model
- this is one of two Stagecoach liveried models announced by
Model 1 on 2nd April 2020 and released on 30th July 2020. The other features GK4058, formerly fleet no. 9 in
the Stagecoach fleet, before becoming Citybus 508 (63031).
The bus
- Stagecoach Hong Kong commenced operation of Resident's Services in
January 1994, initially with a fleet of five Volvo B10Ms with
air-conditioned Alexander PS bodies. These were joined in 1995 by six
12 metre tri-axle Volvo Olympians with Volvo engines and Alexander
'R' type air-conditioned bodies capable of carrying 110 seated and 37
standing passengers. They operated on routes 801R and 802R between
Shatin in the New Territories and Wanchai, Admiralty and Central
(Sheung Wan) on Hong Kong Island.
Fleet
no. 11 was first registered on 4th May 1995. When Stagecoach
ceased operations in 1996, all six Olympians were sold to Citybus and
GK3258 received the new fleet no. 510 (the batch receiving fleet nos.
505-510).
Interestingly, soon after it's acquisition by
Citybus, 510 received a new registration number of GW1534, as the
number 3258 was deemed to be unlucky according to Chinese culture.
The number 32 is considered to be a good number, representing
teamwork, the number 5 is considered to have the meaning 'no'
and the number '8' denotes good luck and wealth, so in all the number
can be interpreted as the business will not be a success. |
