from holiday this evening with an overflowing inbox!
Released in Hong Kong today is the Best Choose 1/24th scale China Motor Bus MCW Metrobus. The model represents MC12 . It is limited to 600 pieces. It has the choice of five destination/route numbers, namely:- Central - 780; Kotewall Road - 13; Chai Wan - 106; Stanley - 260 and Chung Hom Kok - 262. The model retails for about HK$1,680. In my absence, Creative Master Northcord announced the release of its second livery on the long-awaited Isuzu BX141 bonnet bus replica, JB5002, in Japan National Rail Bus colours (cream / green). Further details and photographs will again be added as soon as normal service is resumed!
A disastrous
fire took place at KMB's Tin
Shui Wai Depot during the night of 31st March, causing severe damage to
the following 10
It is believed
that at least 8 of the buses
will end up as total losses. Further photographs will be added shortly.
I am advised by Mike Davis, author of the superb series of 'Hong Kong Buses' books that he is about to issue a limited run digital reprint of his 1995 book, 'Hong Kong Buses Volume Two - Kowloon Motor Bus Co.' It will be a soft cover version with as many of the original typos edited as possible. Please note that it is NOT an updated edition. Published by DTS Publishing, it will retail for £29.95, an increase on the original price reflecting the limited run and digital process, the latter being more expensive than conventional printing methods. Anyone ordering will be asked to allow up to 21-days for delivery. More details will follow. 2nd April
