My thanks to Andy
Higgins who has kindly sent me a selection of photographs of the
ex-China Light & Power Olympians now in the Kinchs of Minety
fleet. These have received new lower front panels. Further photographs
have been added to the pages.
Thanks
to Simon Yiu of
Toronto, Ontario, Canada for providing an update on the three Alexander
Dennis Enviro 500 double decker buses that was purchased by OC Transpo
in Ottawa in 2008, as pilot buses for double decker testing project
(see the following
page for details). The update is as follows:
i) all
3 buses (Nos. 1201 to 1203) will be staying in OC Transpo
fleet and are not being sold
ii)
the City Council of Ottawa has approved the 2012 budget to purchase 80
double deckers from Alexander Dennis, all buses will have to be in
service by Sep 2012 and will replace 140 Orion VI single
decker
buses, made in 1999
iii) all the new buses
will feature a lower
height than the 3 pilot buses, which will make the new buses less
restrictive compared to the present 3 pilot buses as there are 3
locations in Ottawa where there are height clearance issues
iv) Engines will be EPA
2010 emission standard compliant
v)
OC Transpo is looking to specify a different axle model so
they
can accommodate more than 14 standees downstairs without damaging the
axle
vi) all buses will have
to be in service by September 2012, which means the buses will be in
city of Ottawa around spring 2012
vii) it is still not
known if the new buses will be 12m (40ft) or 12.8m (43ft)
A further
Canadian update on ADL Enviro500 buses will be added shortly. |
