P & T /312 Model are set to release two resin Kowloon Motor Bus 11-metre Dennis Dragons (B0040). S3N51 (left) is on route 59A to Tuen Mun Pier and S3N54 (right) is on route 93K to Mong Kok KCR Station. Photographs of the actual buses can be found on Anthony's Bus Homepage at the following page (link no longer available). It is confirmed that the total quantity is 300 pieces and they are expected in early May.

Pictured above is Citybus MAN NL262 no. 1569 in Cityflyer livery, which is to be the subject of one of the four resin models from Model 1 announced yesterday.


I have decided to increase the size of standard images from 400x300 pixels to 500x333 pixels (see above photos), making the file sizes slightly larger, which I trust won't be a problem.

Due for release soon is a resin model of a Citybus MAN NL262 single-decker from Model 1. It is understood four versions will be available, as follows:-
Version 1 : fleet no. 1569 in Cityflyer livery on route A10
Version 2 : fleet no. 1501 in Stagecoach livery on route 85
Version 3 : fleet no. 1516 on route 12A
Version 4 : fleet no. 1537 on route 11

Further details will appear shortly.

Along with the three diecast models mentioned in yesterday's News, the Bus Factory resin KMB Dennis Lance (10503) was also released in Hong Kong today, and a new page has now been created for this.

A second resin Dennis Lance from Bus Factory (10503) is due to be released this Saturday (28th April). It features fleet no. AN12 (FR667) on route 238X to China Ferry Terminal. A new page will be added shortly.

Another resin model, but not an oriental model, is expected to be released in the coming months, this being a British European Airways (BEA) AEC Regal IV RF from Resin Specialist.

Colin Lawrence, who is a friend of Joe Kwong of Jotus, will have a sample of the model with him whilst working in the London Bus Museum shop at the Spring Gathering on Sunday 29th April from 13.00. He will be glad to show the model to those interested, but asks can they also buy something in the shop as that is what he is there for!

Another model being released on Saturday is the long-awaiting Kowloon Motor Bus 'Vintage' liveried Caetano bodied single-deck Scania. In fact two versions are being issued, both featuring fleet no. ASB13 on route 10. Produced by 80M, product code 92903 has a destination of Tai Kok Tsui whilst 92904 has a destination of Choi Wan. Each version is limited to 900 pieces.  New pages will be added in due course.

Set for release this coming Saturday (28th April) is the Kowloon Motor Bus Scania N113, fleet no. AS1, on route no. 300. This is limited to 2,000 pieces and is expected to retail for HK$328.

Overground Publishing are to publish a book 'Our Hot Dog's Story'. It will introduce the history and story about these buses since 1945. It will cover the story of half cab buses, the first generation of rear engined buses, front engined buses in 70's and new buses in 1980's. It will also include the development of bus network since the 1970's. Further details will be published when known.

The JR Team have announced an exclusive offer for Facebook fans, who can order the transportation folders at a special discounted price. The set of three folders include GK9710, GK9063 and a Japanese Yamonote Line train. The offer price is HK$50 (UKŁ4.99) for the three.

A second 
offer is "Solar key tab" vol.1 - Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier. The design is same as their "hot dog bye bye" advertisement - "JR Harbour" on KMB Volvo Olympian S3V18. The offer is HK$32 (UKŁ2.99) for each and a set of 5 is HK$138 (UKŁ11.99) - just follow one of the following links :- (6th October 2022 - these links have now been removed).


Expected to be released in May are two new bus folders, again from the JR Team, and are item nos. SF09, SF10.

SF09 - GK9710 "JR Salute", with sheet of stickers which will enable the collector to change to "JR Harbour" GK9323, and also contains route nos. 43C, 30X, 71S, 38A

SF10 - official KMB banner, with sheet of stickers containing route nos. 3C, 40, 35A, 38A, 5A ... collectors may change to GK8522, GL390, GK9141.

The retail is HK$20 and 80m sell $21.

Earlier this week I reported that KMB's Wrights bodied Volvo B9TL, AVBWU248, carried 'Brand Hong Kong' livery. Thanks to Hong Choi, I can confirm that AVBWU5, pictured above, is also decorated in the same livery.

Following on from yesterday's news, it is confirmed that the quantity for the Kowloon Motor Bus Volvo Olympian S3V15 will be 1,800 pieces. The second official KMB release will feature Volvo Olympian S3V23 (GK9710) on route 41A and this will carry the JR Team banner advert as pictured in the above photograph. This is believed to be limited to 1,288 pieces.

I am reliably informed that following yesterday's news, several further models are expected to be released shortly to commemorate the end of Kowloon Motor Bus non air-con bus operation.

The first, an official KMB release, will feature Volvo Olympian S3V15 (GK9063) on route 16. This model will carry the official KMB banner ad as applied to the actual vehicle. It is expected to retail for HK$328 and is expected in May. The quantity is believed to around 2,000.

The second is again an official KMB release and will feature a standard liveried Volvo Olympian. No further details are currently known other than the quantity, which is believed to be around 1,000.

Finally, for now, Buses Model Co. will release a Volvo Olympian carrying their own banner ad and on route 5A, as pictured above.

Busme & T.680 Creation have announced they are to issue a diecast model of an 11-metre Dennis Dragon with registration GA6479. The model will use the Drumwell casting and carries the Busme banner advert as carried by the real bus. Two versions will be available, each of which is limited to 380 pieces. The first (BT680-1A) is on route 1A to Star Ferry whilst the second (BT680-16M) is on route 16M and has a white destination.  The models are expected in June and will retail for HK$328. Further details will be published in due course.

Bachmann are to release four further 1/76 scale motorised trams, as shown above. Product code CE00607 is in plain blue livery, CE00608 is in plain red livery, CE00609 features Birkenhead Corporation Tram No. 69 in a blue and cream livery whilst CE00610 features Birkenhead Corporation Tram No. 70 in a maroon/cream livery.

It is believed the first three are already available with CE00610 due shortly. In the UK these trams are available from Hattons whilst in Hong Kong, Tramric Product & Design has stock. As these models represent UK trams, pages for each will not be included in this site.

   
Noted for sale on a popular UK auction site is a former Citybus 11-metre Leyland Olympian.

In a ceremony held today at Hung Shui Kiu Depot, MTR officially received their first Alexander Dennis Enviro400. Allocated fleet number 140 it has yet to be registered. My special thanks to 'S3N92' for allowing me to use his photographs, more of which have been added to the Click here to visit the Xtra pages section of the site. Hopefully a model will follow in the not too distant future.

Released in my absence, on 6th April, was this Buses Model Co. Volvo Olympian in a plain white livery with decals to be applied by the purchaser (BLV-61003). The decals allow a choice of route numbers and destinations and features a government health campaign to prevent Dengue Fever. It is limited to 1,000 pieces.

Fleet No. AN12 (FR667) is featured on route 110 to Jordan Road Ferry.
