The final news for 2018 - Model 1 are expected to release two 16-seater Toyota Coaster Public Light Buses in January, registration nos. AMS1 (63805) and AV6168 (63806).

80M Bus Model Shop are accepting pre-orders for these two Kowloon Motor Bus 12.8 metre 'facelift' Enviro500s. Both feature 3ATENU119 (UF8335) - the first (top) is on route 42A to Cheung Hang (KMB2018094) whilst the second is on route 60X to Tuen Mun Central (KMB2018121). Each is limited to 400 pieces. New pages will be added as soon as time allows.

   
Well for the second time in two days, my summary of models released during the year (see below) has had to be revised - I knew I should have awaited the year end!
 
Released in Hong Kong today are the five Kowloon Motor Bus liveried BACo bodied AEC Regent MkVs from APEC, first announced earlier this month.

I believe that the two 19-seater Toyota Coaster Public Light Buses from Model 1, first announced back in March, are set for general release very shortly, with quantities being distributed to AMS employees today. UZ7840 is on route 31 to Causeway Bay (63801) (pictured right) whilst the second features ED77 on route 481B to Tsuen Wan Market Street (63802). New pages have been added and the summary table below has been updated to reflect these two models.

Former New World First Bus Volvo 'Super' Olympian 5090 (KU4116) is now part of the Citybus non-franchised fleet, being allocated fleet no. 259 and carrying driver recruitment advertising. It is pictured earlier today on route 88R to Central.

These two versions of Discovery Bay's Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart, DBAY121 (HD7319), from Model 1, are set for release early in the new year (63123 (top) and 63124).

Best Choose has announced it will release two unlicensed Kowloon Motor Bus liveried Volvo Olympians, namely AV249 (HH6380) on route 60X (180131) and AV156 (GY6694) on route 307 (180132).

It is confirmed that the six New World First Bus Volvo Super Olympians, from Model 1, were released today, each being limited to 900 pieces.

Further details have now been received for the New World First Bus (NWFB) and Citybus Year of the Pig models. The NWFB example (63345/20081) has a destination of 'Happy New Year' and is limited to 918 pieces whilst the Citybus example (63346/CM151) has a destination of 'Kung Hei Fat Choy' and is limited to 968 pieces.

Two new trams are released today - new generation tram no. 98 carries 'catch a ride catch a smile' decals and has a destination of Causeway Bay (TT33703) - it is limited to 500 pieces. Millennium tram no. 169 carries KMB livery promoting a free tram ride when using a KMB cross harbour route. (TT33102).

Pictured above are the 'Year of the Pig' models for Citybus (left) and New World First Bus. As mentioned previously, the Citybus model represents 8537 (VP850), a 12-metre 'facelift' Enviro500 (63346/CM151) whilst the NWFB model represents 6188 (VE8977) a 12.8 metre 'facelift' Enviro500 (63345/20081).

Released in Hong Kong is this Discovery Bay Transit liveried Wrights Gemini 2 Volvo B9TL from Model 1. It features DBAY212 (TP1192) on route DB03R with a destination of Discovery Bay Marina Drive (63063). The quantity is currently unknown.

A new addition to the Citybus open-top fleet is former New World First Bus Alexander bodied Dennis Trident 1220 (KP3470) which has been re-registered HT817 and allocated fleet no. 25.

Another superb shot from Tim Moore - ex-London Transport DMS1559, which entered service for Kowloon Motor Bus in May 1981 as 2D28 (CN1106), is captured here at the Star Ferry Terminus at Tsim Sha Tsui in February 1988. As a result of accident damage soon after entering service, it received a new front from stocks of Metal Sections and BACo spares held by the company. 

   
Both Singapore and Macau have received new hybrid buses which are now operating on revenue services.

The first, for Transmac Macau, is a pair of China made Higer KLQ6109GQHEV5  single deckers which were first noted on service 72 and now serving on route 9A.

For Singapore, after the success trial of the Volvo B5LH, LTA ordered a batch of 50 with MCV Envora bodywork and SG 3006C was seen at Hougang Central Interchange undergoing driver training. Th
e first of the type made it's maiden trip on route 272 on 10th December.


The above photograph shows the ever increasing range of Tiny KMB models, some of which have yet to be released.

My thanks to Tim Moore for allowing me to share his excellent photograph, taken in February 1988, of China Motor Bus LF105 (BL482), an Alexander bodied Leyland Fleetline, first registered in July 1976 and originally fitted with a Metal Sections body.


A new page has now been added for the Kowloon Motor Bus Mercedes-Benz 0.305 with St John Ambulance decals that was released back in August and was the subject of licensing issues (CBM10103).

One release that I missed whilst on holiday in November was this KMB liveried Mercedes Benz 0.305 from Creative Bus Model, It features ME2 (DF7102) on route 68X to Un Long (CBM10104).  I would be grateful if anyone could provide the quantity of this model - now confirmed as 388 pieces.


On the subject of numbers, there are presently thirty-one models that have been announced but have yet to be released - and a back-up of the site tonight confirms it consists of over 39,000 items!

Details of the Citybus and New World First Bus 'Year of the Pig' models have been released.  The Citybus model will represent 8537 (VP850) a 12-metre 'facelift' Enviro500 (CM151) whilst the NWFB model will represent 6188 (VE8977) a 12.8 metre 'facelift' Enviro500 (20081).

These two China Motor Bus Guy Arabs are set for release tomorrow - LX40 (AC4795) is on route 23 to Pokfield Road (97003) (top) whilst LX33 (AH4045) is on route 101 to Kwun Tong (97004). Each is limited to 400 pieces and they are produced by Cars Workshop.

I have today received further information on the Mercedes-Benz 0.305 announced yesterday (BR-001) - it comes in a plain white livery with decals for the purchaser to apply which  relate to 'The Wonderful World of Whimsy'. It is on route 68X to Jordan Road Ferry and will be limited to 800 pieces. My thanks to China Model Bus for sending me these details.

A further Mercedes-Benz 0.305 release is on it's way, this time representing ME25 (DG4602) and from another new name, BR Bus Model. No further details are presently known (BR-001).

Citybus began operating route 608 on an all-day basis yesterday and pictured above is 12.8 metre ADL 'facelift' Enviro500 64430 heading for Sai Wan Ho.
