Citybus registered four new Wrights Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B8Ls on 18th November for use on new Queens Hill express routes 78X and 79X, which commence tomorrow. The above photograph was taken on 27th November and it is believed this bus has since received banner advertising for the new routes.

Yesterday's arrival was in the form of PHM22102, a plastic Peak Horse 1/87 scale China Motor Bus liveried Duple Metsec bodied Dennis Condor DA41. This differs from last month's acquisition, PHM22102F, in that it has a driver but no seated passengers.

I have therefore updated the above image, which I posted last month, showing all the models in this range, with the exception of one!   Still missing is PHM22101, but does it actually exist?

Numerically the first in the series, I can find no information about it other than it was listed in a newsletter received from a UK retailer in January 1999, as shown in the image below.
It is listed as being a China Motor Bus example in blue and cream Air-con livery. The fact that no price is listed alongside PHM22101, nor PHM22104, makes me think that maybe this model was never released and that it was possibly replaced by PHM22104. In consulting Danny Chan's and the late Vic Davey's excellent book, 'The Complete World of Little Buses', images of PHM22102, PHM22103 and PHM22104 appear, but not for PHM22101.

Continuing my investigations, the following page of the 87thScale.info website lists all the models, again with the exception of 22101.

And finally, here is a page from Hattons Model Railways website, still with no mention of PHM22101!

So, I am once again seeking help from anyone who has this model or can confirm its existence - please either e-mail me or post a message on the sites' Facebook page - thank you!

The month of November previously saw many UK enthusiasts travel to Hong Kong, including myself, to catch up with the former colony's bus scene. With the current Coved-19 restrictions, I thought I would take a trip down 'Memory Lane' and post a variety of shots taken during my visit in November 2011, and the above is the first, taken 10 years ago today.

Captured at Sogo in Causeway Bay is Citybus Duple Metsec bodied Dennis Trident 2238 heading on the E11 from the Airport to Tin Hau whilst KMB's Alexander bodied Volvo 'Super' Olympian 3ASV439 is heading to Ping Tin on route 603.

Back to the 24th November and a visit to Stanley saw Citybus ADL Enviro400 7026, which had been registered just three weeks earlier, setting off for Central on the 260. Meanwhile back at the Central Ferry Piers, New World First Bus Alexander bodied Volvo Olympian VA55, which had been converted to open top in 2009, is ready to depart on the H2 Metropolis Tour.

Tiny has today announced another two new models in 1/110 scale, both featuring a Kowloon Motor Bus Leyland Victory Mk 2 with the same banner advertising, which I believe  translates as 'Take the KMB Shing Mun Tunnel Express - the fastest and most economical way to and from Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan'. Pictured above is G189 (CG7045) on route 43X with a destination of Tsuen Wan Ferry Pier (Box KMB07 / KMB2021149) whilst the second features G405 (CT3147) on route 47X. Annoyingly, this APEC model (63004) was released just last year (14th June) however, I am still unable to confirm whether or not it came with a limited edition certificate, and if so, what the quantity was. If you are able to help, please e-mail me or leave a message on the site's Facebook page.

The feedback from last month's 'Pictureview' feature proved positive, so I am planning to include this feature on a regular basis, and in this respect today's 'Pictureview' includes a few more photographs taken during my first visit in November 2002. Whilst each image is 'clickable', please bear in mind the camera I was using at the time was somewhat basic compared to present day cameras and therefore the size of the enlarged image is smaller than usual.

Whilst I have consciously made the decision to focus mainly on 1/76 scale models, with the time and effort I have already put in to create a comprehensive index of Tiny 1/110 models, I will continue to update this list. I will not, however, be able to create such lists for the 1/120 scale models currently being offered, but will, wherever possible, mention any significant releases in this News page. As I am sure you will appreciate, maintaining this site in its present format is time-consuming in itself, and I just don't have the time to create additional pages for these 1/120 scale models. So, in keeping you informed of any significant 1/120 scale releases, here are two MTR Bus models from 80M Bus Model, one of which featured in yesterday's news!

My thanks to Ray Ng for providing a literal translation of the Chinese text featured on MTR Bus 338, which is featured above in 1/120 scale and also in 1/1 scale in yesterday's news - it reads "Tai Tong red leafs let's go!"

MTR Bus has introduced a new route K66S today, which will operate on Sundays throughout November. It runs between Long Ping Station and Tai Tong Shan Road. To mark this new route, Wrights Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL no. 338 (UE8310) has received this autumnal livery. It carries the wording 'Big Leaf Let's Go'.

A burst water pipe under Peak Road has resulted in a landslide which in turn has caused problems for traffic heading to and from the Peak. This has resulted in only single-deck buses being able to reach the Peak.

Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the site - little did I know back in 1998 that I would still be updating it on a regular basis twenty-three years later!

Two significant models come to mind when looking back - Corgi's KMB 'Handover' liveried Olympian was my first oriental model bus purchased and Corgi's Capital Citybus Olympian was the first model to be mentioned on the site!

My thanks, as always, to all who have contributed over the years - your help has been invaluable and very much appreciated.
