Following my request as to the reason why China Motor Bus Leyland Olympian LM5 received a red livery, I am advised by Kennis that it was rented by an advertising company for a Seiko watches advertisement, one of the actors used being Matsu Takako, a Japanese actress and singer. LM5 was used for the background of the advertisement.

To help provide copyright protection for contributors who send me their photographs for use on my site, a copyright watermark can now added if so requested, similar to that shown on the photograph below.

A new page, with further photographs, has tonight been added for the red China Motor Bus Leyland Olympian from Buses Model Co. (LM5). Whilst aware this was a genuine livery, I would welcome the reasons for it - please e-mail me if you know.

Pictured above is a Buses Model China Motor Bus Leyland Olympian (LM5) in plain red livery of which it is believed only 30 were produced. It is thought this model was considered as a prize for the winners of their competition back in 2005. Ultimately the St Johns Ambulance liveried KMB version was chosen. I am advised that a quantity of these models are on sale at 80M Bus Model Shop. Further photographs will be added shortly.

My thanks to Dennis Tang of the China Motor Bus Memorial Page and also to Lun for allowing me to use a photograph of ME19, the actual 'The Samaritans' liveried Mercedes-Benz 0305, which has now been added the the following page (DW10405).

My thanks to Wei Shen for informing me of various press releases from SBS Transit, and Volvo. To summarise, a total of 350 new buses worth an estimated S$159 million will be introduced by Singapore's largest bus operator SBS Transit from 2010 onwards. The order includes 200 new Scania Euro V buses worth an estimated S$ 72 million as well as a new order of 150 Volvo B9TL double deck buses with Euro V engines worth about S$ 87 million. The supplier of the bodywork for the Volvo B9TL is confirmed to be WrightBus.

Is this the next livery for Drumwell's Leyland Victory Mk2  -  lets hope so!

This particular model has been superbly repainted by 'Chowcck1' into the livery first carried by this vehicle whilst being shown at the 'Hong Kong in Britain Exhibition' in September 1980.

Pictured above is one of the recently delivered batch of Alexander Dennis Enviro500s for Kowloon Motor Bus. Of particular note is the new offside emergency exit.

I am reliably informed that the recently released black Mercedes-Benz 0305 (DW10405) comes with decals that convert the bus into that shown in this link (ME19 - fifth bus down).

An unconfirmed report states that Big Bus will purchase three 3-axle double decker buses, manufactured in China, to replace the their Dennis Dominators. The new buses are expected to arrive within the next two months.
15th August 2009

The latest edition of 'KMB Today' gives details of further new models.

The first is a 1/60 scale Alexander ALX500 bodied Dennis Trident, which I assume will use the same casting as the New World First Bus model announced last week. No image of the model is shown. It appears to be limited to 1,500 pieces and will retail for HK$398.

The remaining models consist of twelve 1/150 scale older KMB vehicles, which appear to include a Leyland Victory and Daimler. It is difficult to identify the precise models from the photograph.

Due for release in Hong Kong shortly is a black version of KMB's Mercedes-Benz 0305 (DW10405). As with the white version (DW10404) which was released last month, it features DF9520 on route 68M with a destination of Private. I believe it carries the incorrect fleet no. of ME16 (it should be ME19).
