Former New World First Bus 4038 (PF1805), an 11.3 metre ADL Enviro500, is the first of the type to receive the new livery, becoming fleet number 41018.

Following on from the question I posed on 8th January as to what format the next series of Hong Kong registrations will take, I am grateful to Ray Ng and Philip Chan for providing information, and below is the answer!

Upon exhaustion of the current two-letter prefix system, when it reaches "ZZ", the Transport Department will reallocate registration marks that have been returned, but not reallocated to other vehicles (such as those obtained from auctions). Allocation will begin from the "WA" series in reverse alphabetical order. This results in the "WA" to "WZ" series issued first, followed by "VA" to "VZ" then "UA" to "UZ" and so forth. It is estimated that there are about three million registration marks not yet reallocated. Projected from the current rate of allocation, the amount is sufficient to meet demand for at least 20 years.

Now on to my next question!

Is Kowloon Motor Bus planning to introduce a new 'retro' or 'heritage' livery, bearing in mind there are at least thirty-four 12.8 metre ADL 'facelift Enviro500s parked in Tuen Mun and fourteen 12.8 metre MCV bodied Volvos in Egypt, all carrying this attractive livery?

Kowloon Motor Bus has applied Year of the Dragon 2024 decals to 12.8 metre Gemilang bodied MAN A95 M6FX5 (YB9089). The bus will work mainly on route 960.

Meanwhile, Citybus has today registered six Wrights Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B8Ls.  52131/3/4/6/7 and 53138, all carry ZAxxxx registrations.

Following the issue of the first 'Z' registrations, it leads me to pose the question - "Has the Hong Kong government announced what format the next series of registrations will take?".
