Hot off the press is this latest book by Roger Bailey and Pauline Venables. Roger has previously published books on the major Hong Kong bus operators, details of which can be found in the XTRA section of the site. This book covers a potted history of BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport), including a selection of montages, posters and other material. The second half of the book focuses on a visit Roger & Pauline made in November 2022, when the old double-deck buses were still in service. During his visit Roger hired one such double-decker for half a day, with crew and guide, which is also featured in the book! It's unique as there is nothing out there on the subject.
The book is A5 in size and contains 128 pages, a couple of which are shown above - I haven't attempted to count the photographs, the vast majority of which are in colour! It retails for £15.00 plus postage and is only available direct from Roger, who can be contacted at rogerbaileybooks@gmail.com. (ISBN 978-1-8384451-6-4)
Recently released is this 1/76th scale tram carrying a special livery marking the 200th anniversary of Ma Pak Leung. It features tram no. 7 with a destination of Western Market (TT33686). 25th July

Hong Kong bus preservationist Dave Rogers has today posted the following statement via his Facebook page:- "Following a lot of hard work and years of restoration, former Citybus 606 was finally revealed to the public this week, by way of a photograph published in the August edition of Buses Magazine. So may I present the last remaining Citybus NC Volvo Olympian, and the only tri-axle Volvo Olympian in the UK!" I plan to add further details of the bus together with at least one photograph of it whilst in service in Hong Kong - time to search!!!!! In the meantime, may I thank Dave for his continued hard-work in keeping alive such a range of former Hong Kong buses.
Once again I am grateful to Donald MacRae for allowing me to share his photograph of 606, captured in Sha Tin in November 2017 and carrying an unusual destination display!
The above shot was taken a little earlier, on 1st December 2009, at North Point Ferry Pier. 23rd July

Further
to yesterday's news, I am able to provide further details.
The first StreetDeck model represents W6S1, but represents the actual bus after its arrival in the UK, having been acquired by Ensignbus. The bus underwent a test run in 2021 and during this run it carried the route number and destination as displayed on the model - it also carried a 'trade plate' as displayed on the model. A photograph featuring the bus stop included appears in John G. Lidstone's Flickr site. Just to confirm, the route number is R271 and destination is Tsim Sha Tsui East (Mody Road) but the quantity is presently unknown (KMB2023007). This is the model referred to on the John Ayrey Diecasts website (see News 14th July).
The second StreetDeck model again represents W6S1 (WJ1984), this time operating in Hong Kong. It is on route 93A to Po Lam (KMB2023099). The XTRA section of the features a page on StreetDeck W6S1, just follow this link. Details of the two Enviro500 models will be announced on Saturday 22nd. 19th July

Whilst recent updates have been focused on events in Hong Kong, which is understandable, today's update changes that!! Pictured above is former New World First Bus Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart 2066 and former Citybus Van Hool Alizée bodied Volvo B10M 1273, now part of Dave Roger's collection of preserved Hong Kong buses. The Dart participated in the Stroud Vintage Bus Show yesterday whilst the Volvo participated in the Wythall Bus Fest at Gaydon on Saturday.
