Buses Model Co.

This new manufacturer announced, in late November 2000, two new releases, namely the Guy Arab IV, with Metals Sections bodywork, but with a 'Birmingham' style front end. The third release, featuring the same model but in the yellow and blue service vehicle livery of China Motor Bus (CMB), was issued in March 2001.

The first double-deck bus issued was the CMB Leyland Olympian, well in fact two different models depicting different vehicles were issued at the same time, LM9 and LM10. These models are quite superb in fine detailing and this model won this Site's vote for Best New Casting of 2001, receiving a total of 296 points, with the runner up receiving 193!!!. The third example of this model was released with CMB 'Hotline' decals, LM7. A novelty for this Company was that those in Hong Kong who purchased the first of the Leyland Olympians could enter a draw, the lucky 30 winners receiving the fourth version of the model, LM2.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Bus Fan World in May 2002, Buses Model Co. presented two models of Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) fleet no. AL1, carrying Bus Fan World banner adverts, as applied to the actual vehicle to BFW. 500 models were subsequently offered by BFW to it's members, and these were distributed in October 2002.

In June 2002 it was announced that Buses Model Co. were to issue, for KMB, a model of their S3BL class Leyland Olympian.

Since 2002, releases have been limited to one model a year, although only 30 St John's Ambulance liveried Olympians were issued in 2006. In 2007 a second 'non air-con' model was issued, which was not licensed by KMB and therefore decals had to be applied by the purchaser. In September 2008, a further 'non air-con' example, this time licensed by KMB, was issued.

These models are only released in Hong Kong unless otherwise stated.
