Corgi

In 1994, Corgi were the first company to produce a "serious" Hong Kong bus model, this being a 1/64th scale China Motor Bus MCW Metrobus (Model No. 91707). The ball really started to roll in 1997 with the release of the then superb casting of the three-axle Leyland/Volvo Olympian. Many of these early castings carried the special liveries applied by the Hong Bus Companies to celebrate Re-unification. In fact, it was seeing the special handover livery applied to KMB Model No, 43203 that first aroused my interest in Hong Kong buses. The Olympian casting is now rather dated, comparing it to the latest offerings from Drumwell, Creative Master Northcord, Buses Model and Model Bus Evolution. The Dennis Trident chassis is well represented with a good selection of Duple Metsec and Alexander bodied examples. Whilst being the last of the three model manufacturers who released the infamous Leyland Victory Mk2, it was certainly well worth the wait, being by far the best of the three.

The last, and certainly one of the best Hong Kong castings is KMB's MAN 24.310 with Berkhof bodywork, which appeared in December 2001.
